I work from the premise that everyone has the answers within themselves. I want to help others find their way out of their negative experience and discover true happiness from within. I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort that needs to be safe, secure, and patient. Nonjudgmental care is the cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Learning to trust in this relationship can hold the keys to unlocking one’s ability to develop healthy relationships, a more enjoyable life, and a whole self. It is a rich place where otherwise hidden patterns and habits can be discovered and changed.
My background is based in Gestalt and Existential theory, however, therapy is a way for someone to explore why they may be feeling or thinking a certain way in order to help them learn more about themselves and make positive life changes. It is person centered and person driven. I pull from an array of theory and technique based upon each unique individual.
I am available for free consultation to discuss what therapy would look and feel like, as well as any expectations and/or requirements that one might have.
About Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy seeks to integrate the client's behaviors, feelings, and thinking, so that their intentions and actions may be aligned for optimal mental health. The therapy will help the client become more self aware, to live more in the present, and to assume more responsibility for taking care of themself.
About Existential Psychotherapy
Existential psychotherapy is based on the philosophical belief that human beings are alone in the world, and that this aloneness can only be overcome by creating one's own meaning, and exercising one's freedom to choose. The existential therapist encourages clients to face life's anxieties head on and to start making their own decisions. The therapist will emphasize that, along with having the freedom to carve out meaning, comes the need to take full responsibility for the consequences of one's decisions. Therapy sessions focus on the client's present and future rather than their past.
